Sydney's Views

Ashoke name means "without sorrow." This relates to his personality by once his son was born he does not have sorrow due to his wreck anymore. "Ever since that day, the day he became a father, the memory of his accident has receded, diminishing over the years." ( page 78). Ashima name means "boundless, limitless." This does not relate to her personality because she expresses has she feels trapped in America and homesick. "she is terrified to raise a child in a country where she is related to no one." (page 6). This just shows she feels like she can not do this by herself. Nikhil name means "whole, entire." This relates to him because he is trying to embrace all of the American culture instead of the Indian one. "the album is a present from his American birthday party." (page 74). This shows that Nikhil has two whole cultures he has learned and is embrassing his American culture more. Sonali name means "gold." ...

My family came from Lebanon I am pretty sure. My dad's side is Jewish and my great great grandmother traveled to America. She lived in New York for a while and then married a man from the south. My mom's family came from Europe and are Christain. So my parents have let my brother and I decide what religon we would like to be. But we do celebrate Hanukah, Easter, Passover, and Christmas. This is all I really know for sure about my family's history!

Love is like a flower, because it develops from a seed and slowly grows and becomes a very beautiful thing. It all starts from a seed which is like two people confessing they have feelings for one another. Then turns into a little sprout this is like the relationship at its very first stages. And then becomes a bud right before two confess they love each other. Once the bud sprouts it is like the confession that  they love each other. Which thus the loving of one another becomes a great big beautiful flower. The sad thing is once the two start to fall out of love the flower beings to slowly die. Once it's last petal falls comes the end of the realationship. The death of a flower can end in many ways not just falling out of love but also one person could die or some other sort of tragedy can occur.

Stories told about girls to society mkaes society believe this is how girls should or should not be treated. These stories also demonstrate to boys how they should treat us. Most of these stories portray the girl as helpless and someone who has to have a man in her life to keep her afloot. As in sleeping beauty the only way she can be awaken is by the prince. Making society believe that the only way for a girl to live is to wait around unitl her prince comes and saves the day. Teaching that all girls should sit still and look pretty and hopeful attract a guy so you can live a happy life. This is not a great thing to start portraying to young girls with the princess kid movies, but this is where girls first pick up this concept of needing a guy in their life. Sleeping Beauty is not the only story we see as a child that teaches this idea to us. Most princess stories have this concept of needing a guy and sometimes it could make a little girl think the only reason she is put on this earth...

A fairytale is a fictional story that is made up to create a fantasy or a world that someone wishes could be true. A fairytale is a story that is written to solely entertain. If I could enter any fairytale I would probably enter the Little Mermaid, but any princess fairytale I would enter. I think the Little Mermaid would be the most fun princess fairytale to enter due to you can become a mermaid and explore the ocean. I have always wanted to be a mermaid especially when I was little and entering this fairytale would give me the opportunity to be one. I would be Ariel, the main character, because not only is she a mermaid but she also becomes a human and falls in love. Even more she becomes a princess which has always been a dream of mine. I would really want to be in this fairytale because even though you have to deal with an evil women once you stop letting her control your world then you live this fantasy that is amazing. My interpretation of The Origin of Ants is that it was a very good and cool story. It is about a poor man who does not like to work in another country to make more money for his family which results in this wife giving him smack talk. To come home the guy tells his wife that he has developed a great sense of smell and that will bring their family fortune. The king hears of this man and wants to tet his ability and he passes. Knowing that his talent is actually made up he retires so he does not get sent to jail for impersonating. The poor guy proved his smelling powers so well that the people of the town threw him so high in the sky that he turned to dust once he came down and the dust turned into ants. He was also told by the king that if he could figure out the smell of what he had hidden then he could hold any position at court under the king. The lesson is that to just be a loving family and money should not mean anything as long as you have your family. I really liked this story b...
