Stories told about girls to society mkaes society believe this is how girls should or should not be treated. These stories also demonstrate to boys how they should treat us. Most of these stories portray the girl as helpless and someone who has to have a man in her life to keep her afloot. As in sleeping beauty the only way she can be awaken is by the prince. Making society believe that the only way for a girl to live is to wait around unitl her prince comes and saves the day. Teaching that all girls should sit still and look pretty and hopeful attract a guy so you can live a happy life. This is not a great thing to start portraying to young girls with the princess kid movies, but this is where girls first pick up this concept of needing a guy in their life. Sleeping Beauty is not the only story we see as a child that teaches this idea to us. Most princess stories have this concept of needing a guy and sometimes it could make a little girl think the only reason she is put on this earth is to sit and look pretty and provide for her husband. Then girls have to grow up and try and learn that this concept is not true and that they are worth more then what these movies portray. I personally loved all the princess movies as a kid and still love watching them today, but I was one of these girls who had to learn that I can do more than sit and look pretty, and that I can make a change jsut like a guy can. Honestly I think girls make even bigger changes in the world then guys do because we do have a maternal mentality.

Journal 2: Each generation is different than the one before it but sometimes that difference is not in the new generation being smarter. Generations before us tell us we are smarter because we are learning from the older generations mistakes, but the younger generation has to be willing to learn and listen. This being told to younger generations they immediately believe their smarter and do not have to listen or learn how to be smarter they just naturally are. The Origin of Ants

My interpretation of The Origin of Ants is that it was a very good and cool story. It is about a poor man who does not like to work in another country to make more money for his family which results in this wife giving him smack talk. To come home the guy tells his wife that he has developed a great sense of smell and that will bring their family fortune. The king hears of this man and wants to tet his ability and he passes. Knowing that his talent is actually made up he retires so he does not get sent to jail for impersonating. The poor guy proved his smelling powers so well that the people of the town threw him so high in the sky that he turned to dust once he came down and the dust turned into ants. He was also told by the king that if he could figure out the smell of what he had hidden then he could hold any position at court under the king. Urban Legend

       The urban legend I read was called "The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs". During this legend a teenage girl goes and babysits for a family that has three children. When she arrives at the house all three of the children are already asleep and the parents tell her to not to disturb them. She follows their orders and quietly works on her homework downstairs. She receives a phone call and there was no one on the other line. The phone rings again but this time with a creepy voice that says 'have you checked on the kids'. This phone call was made two more times. The girl was very scared and called the police. The police were able to track the caller to the same house but upstairs. They tell the girl to get out of the house and right as she did the man appears at the top of the stairs covered in blood.
