Who Are You?

1.       A book that has left a lasting impression on me is A Secret Life of Bees. I read this book in my sophomore year of high school and fell in love with it due to the book relating to my life at the time. The book is about a girl whose mother died when she was very young and the girl had to live with her very racist father. The person who actually raised the little girl was her black nanny who was the father's worker. The girl runs away from home with her nanny and ends up at the house of three other black women who support themselves and are not workers for whites. These three ladies are sisters and run a bee farm. The little girl keeps asking the question "why is racism even a thing?." Her father finds her and the girl stands up for herself and refuses to leave and the father lets her stay. Thus the little girl teaches her father to not see color. 

 2.     I am a very southern preppy girl who loves everything pink and Lily Pulitzer. I am very goofy and seem to always be the child of my friends even though I am usually the oldest in age. Even though some people make fun of me for the things I like and the things I do, I just laugh right along with them because I am a little kid and I do not wanna change. I love to sleep as well. I tell everyone, I feel like a kola because I seem to be sleeping more than rather awake. I do have a lot of energy when I am awake and most people can only take me in small doses. Where I am going is hopefully to college and getting a degree in business focused on real estate. I hope to create my own agency and to have a family with one kid, preferably a boy. I also want to still keep my kid mentality because I think it makes me a happy person.

    I like Secret Life of Bees, too! Great book! Is Lily Pulitzer the designer that is pretty colorful? I think I see her stuff a lot, but I can't remember where it sells. Ahhhh, a koala bear! That's funny!

Journal 2: Each generation is different than the one before it but sometimes that difference is not in the new generation being smarter. Generations before us tell us we are smarter because we are learning from the older generations mistakes, but the younger generation has to be willing to learn and listen. This being told to younger generations they immediately believe their smarter and do not have to listen or learn how to be smarter they just naturally are. The Origin of Ants

My interpretation of The Origin of Ants is that it was a very good and cool story. It is about a poor man who does not like to work in another country to make more money for his family which results in this wife giving him smack talk. To come home the guy tells his wife that he has developed a great sense of smell and that will bring their family fortune. The king hears of this man and wants to tet his ability and he passes. Knowing that his talent is actually made up he retires so he does not get sent to jail for impersonating. The poor guy proved his smelling powers so well that the people of the town threw him so high in the sky that he turned to dust once he came down and the dust turned into ants. He was also told by the king that if he could figure out the smell of what he had hidden then he could hold any position at court under the king. Urban Legend

       The urban legend I read was called "The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs". During this legend a teenage girl goes and babysits for a family that has three children. When she arrives at the house all three of the children are already asleep and the parents tell her to not to disturb them. She follows their orders and quietly works on her homework downstairs. She receives a phone call and there was no one on the other line. The phone rings again but this time with a creepy voice that says 'have you checked on the kids'. This phone call was made two more times. The girl was very scared and called the police. The police were able to track the caller to the same house but upstairs. They tell the girl to get out of the house and right as she did the man appears at the top of the stairs covered in blood.
